For farmers and market managers
Despensa is a diary. People log what they carried home from the market — what it was, which stall it came from, and a few days later, what they cooked. Your stall has a page here because a shopper wrote your name down.
- Nobody rates you.Produce gets a score out of five — these peaches, these strawberries. A stall never does, and no average of any kind is calculated or shown. There is no field for it.
- There is no one star.No downvote, no complaint box, no review. If somebody had a bad morning they simply don’t log it. Absence of praise is never public punishment here.
- There are no leaderboards. No top ten at any market, ever. Where stalls are surfaced, it leans toward the ones nobody has logged yet rather than the ones everybody has.
- It is free, and it stays free.Claiming your page costs nothing and always will. There is no paid tier, no promoted placement, and nothing to buy.
How your stall gets on here
Usually it already is — the first time a shopper logs a haul from you, your name goes in the book and a page exists. You don’t have to do anything for that to happen!
What a shopper can record is specific: not just tomatoes but Sungold, Green Zebra, Early Girl, dry-farmed — and anything not in the catalogue they can simply type. Stalls selling hot and prepared food are logged as what they are, and are kept out of the season pages.
Claiming it
Go to your stall’s page and there’s a Claim this page button at the bottom of it. It asks four things — your name, how to reach you, what you do at the stall, and anything that lets us check. A person reads every one before the page changes hands, because giving a farm’s name to the wrong account is the one mistake we couldn’t undo, so give us a day or two.
Then it’s yours: your own words on the page, your markets and days, what you take for payment, the crops you grow. I’d love this to be a collaborative effort, and to hear how you’d like to present your farm or stall to customers — so email me either way.
If you’d rather not be here at all
Say so and the page comes down, no questions and no argument.
Market managers
You know every stall at your location and you already speak for them, which makes you the best possible source for a roster — and the fastest way to get a whole market represented properly instead of one stall at a time. Would love to chat to you as well, same email address.
